What Movement is in the Timex Marlin?

The movement in the Timex Marlin depends on the model. Some Marlins are powered by the Miyota caliber 8205 or the Miyota 8215. The 2023 Marlin Sub-Dial Automatic 39mm has a Miyota caliber 8217.

The 34mm mechanical (hand-wound) Marlin uses a Seagull caliber ST6 with the automatic wind unit removed to make it a manual-wind only watch.

As mentioned in the comments below, vintage Marlin timepieces has Timex movements. For example, the Timex M27.

How to tell which Miyota movement your modern Timex Marlin Auto has inside?

Timex is not transparent about the caliber numbers on their product pages, but you can use the guide below to help figure out which movement is in your watch:

  • 8205 is a day/date.
  • 8215 has a date only.
  • 8217 has a small seconds subdial at 9:00 and a date at  3:00.
